Dan Olmstead, author of "The Age of Autism" series, has written another article this week, "The Age of Autism: Heavy Metal"
In probable order of impact, the group asserts, the autism epidemic has been caused by:
--Thimerosal from vaccines;
--"synergistic toxins" that aggravate mercury's effects including antibiotics, aluminum from vaccines, and the body's own testosterone, which the group says explains why 80 to 90 percent of children with autism are boys;
--the mother's mercury load while pregnant, including mercury-containing vaccines such as the flu shot and RHO-gam given to RH-negative women; dental mercury amalgams; thimerosal-containing vaccines received prior to pregnancy; and fish consumption before, during and after pregnancy;
--the child's own dental mercury amalgams;
--the child's high seafood consumption;
--environmental mercury that is a byproduct of coal-fired industrial plants, and
--other sources including consumer products that contain mercury.
This is an excellent point being made because by showing the multiple sources of mercury, it diffuses the argument coming from most of conventional medicine that there is "no proof vaccines are the cause." While I think most of the people making that statement are just scared to look at the data being publicized by groups like the new www.GenerationRescue.org, I think "synergistic toxicity of heavy metals" is probably the best explanation.
The following is from Dr. Donald Miller's "Mercury on the Mind" article.
Another important factor with regard to mercury on the mind, which officials at the CDC, FDA and the professors in the IOM do not consider, is synergistic toxicity – mercury’s enhanced effect when other poisons are present. A small dose of mercury that kills 1 in 100 rats and a dose of aluminum that will kill 1 in 100 rats, when combined have a striking effect: all the rats die. Doses of mercury that have a 1 percent mortality will have a 100 percent mortality rate if some aluminum is there. Vaccines contain aluminum.
